It’s been many years since I was directly involved in Graphical Rich, but I still keep in touch with a few of the heroes that I suffered with.

During a recent conversation with GHC, I was reminded of the origins of the name ‘Graphical Rich’ – I had completely forgotten.

Riddler had a habit of creating fairly awful powerpoint presentations. I think he thought he was writing literature to be read by people with the desire and time to read it.

Creating overly verbose slides isn’t a fault that’s unique to Riddler, but he was fairly bad at it.

But that’s not why the name Graphical Rich exists.

Riddler also had a terrible sense of grammar and spelling. His slides were littered with mistakes of all sorts, and he seemed blind to them.

One particular presentation was intended to acquire funding for the next iteration of our core product. This was an important slide deck.

The first bullet on a slide extolling the features of said product began with:

  • Graphical rich content

We believe he meant graphically rich but it’s never entirely clear.

For some reason, that particular mistake remained stuck in our heads and that’s how this blog found its name.
