Is It Helpful?
We’re looking for a designer again. (That comment alone comes with a huge backstory for another day) so I write a job posting. We’re looking for someone with a particular skill so in the posting I mention:
Preference will be given to applicants with [skill x] experience.
I give the posting to Nouveau Sidler so he can deal with the administration details and weed out the avalanche of the terrible resumes we’ll receive. I call specific attention to that one line about [skill x] experience so that he is sure to review resumes for that criteria before tossing them into the junk bin.
A day later this conversation ensues:
- Nouveau Sidler:
- You know that job posting.. Is it helpful if they know [skill x]?
- HPDEB:
- Uhh… yeah. I think I explicitly pointed that out in the posting when I gave it to you…
- Nouveau Sidler:
- Oh yeah. Ok. So I should keep track of those ones?
- HPDEB:
- Umm.. yes.
This is the typical behaviour of monsieur Nouveau Sidler. He appears completely incapable of reading, listening, or performing any basic task. In that way he’s still disastrously similar to the Riddler.
