Our current problem regards the three contractors we have working on a particular project. One is a total incompetent ass, the second is clearly incapable of connecting two dots and drawing between the lines and, in complete contrast the remaining one is quite good at production.

The problem is we need all three of them to make a tight deadline. We ended up firing the first guy because not only was he incompetent, he claimed his ‘20 years of experience puts him in the top 20% of professionals, therefore we obviously don’t know what we’re talking about.’

He’s wrong.

He’s fired.

As I’m reviewing the second guy’s work, I’m realizing it’s total crap. The lines he draws (on a table) don’t meet. The background colour doesn’t quite reach the lines or goes outside the lines and he doesn’t do it consistently. He obviously doesn’t know how to use the software.

I’ve never met the guy, and as I’m writing an email to the Riddler saying ‘don’t use this guy again’ I don’t realize that this particular contractor is actually with Riddler at the moment signing a contract to do the work we fired the first guy for.

So, we’ve now put more responsibility in the hands of the incompetent fools, by the incompetent fools.

And get this… while doing this, Riddler had the guy read, review, and sign the WRONG CONTRACT for the WRONG FEE because the project manager was in a meeting and Riddler figured he could figure it out himself.

ARGH.

Commentary

Ouch. Nothing like having someone try to renegotiate their entire contract on the day their work is due.
