Starbeer's Last Day. Maybe.
I’ve been telling Riddler for a week now that he needs to tell Starbeer when his last day will be (it’s only fair).
Every day, same thing. No action from Riddler.
I’ve also been saying that we must tell him the real reason he’s being let go: quality of work, attention to detail, inability to self-manage. Because… as soon as he’s gone, we’re posting a new job ad for his position, on a site we know he regularly monitors.
Today, Riddler calls in Starbeer and says: We have no more work, the contract is over. Oh, and we didn’t like your web design.
So he’s told we have no work and that’s the reason but:
- We’re about to post a job ad
- For his position
- Available immediately
Then Riddler and Starbeer come out of the office and Riddler says to us: “We’re done with Starbeer right?”
- GHC:
- No, I’m preparing a day and a half of stuff for him right now.
- HPDEB:
- For me, yeah. I’ve got nothing, because I’ve been put on other projects.
- Riddler:
- Ok Starbeer, tomorrow’s your last day. Maybe the end of the day. Definitely by friday. You’re done. Oh. And I have to leave now. Bye everyone.
An hour later, Starbeer looks at what’s slated for his next day of work, and it turns out to be beta testing. That’s completely useless to his design career and goals and says, screw it.
- Starbeer:
- I’ll just pass and leave now. See you guys.
- Handy:
- I didn’t know today was your last day..?
- Starbeer:
- Neither did I till a few minutes ago. Nice working with you.
And we’ve never heard from him again.. except for a reference letter request which neither GHC nor myself could bring ourselves to do.
