Dead Server
There’s been a noticeable absence of entries recently. Why? Well, we haven’t been able to do much..
Riddler tried to install the NAS replacement SCSI drive in the server - and that’s where it all went wrong.
It killed the server. It killed most of the drives. He started moving drives back to Farva’s machine to attempt repairs. Locked up the server. Almost trashed our only copy of a current project. Killed the new copy of the dev drive (wiping out the day of file copy work).
He tried to get something installed in GHC’s machine. Killed GHC’s machine.
Finally, after the server being down for 2 days (me sitting around for an entire day, after warning him this would be the case), at 5:00pm last night he says he’ll call in a tech guy (which was suggested last friday).
Then he closes with this zinger.
- Riddler:
- I don’t know why I’m bothering, because I probably know more about the problem than they will, and it’s just a waste of time.
Yes. After successfully destroying the entire IT infrastructure and unsuccessfully attempting to repair it over 2 days, he still maintains that he knows more about it than someone who does it as a full-time job. Ah the arrogance.
The next morning, Riddler called in to inform me of what happened last night. He was here until 2:30am last night. His statement:
- Riddler:
- I’m willing to acknowledge now that there’s a problem with the server.
Update:
Apparently the tech guy came in later and suggested Riddler buy Norton Systemworks. Riddler then went to The Designer to see if he could find an illegal copy for us.
