Riddler decides maybe we should license our server product in a way that it dies after a year if you don’t repurchase the license.

I mentioned ideas about consumer backlash and such, how your investment would be useless if you didn’t purchase updates, etc.

His response?

Riddler:
It is our public duty, our public service to require that they keep updated.

Apparently public duty is to force a customer to pay you forever, or else what they bought is worthless. Interesting notion of public duty.
