Trust Me
We need a piece of technology which we can buy ‘off-the-shelf’ from a freelance developer. The developer has made their code available for purchase with PayPal.
Riddler contacts the developer about this. (I’d previously explained it to Riddler, including why we needed it, how to pay, licensing needs, etc.) Riddler doesn’t trust the developer, and asks whether we could just get the source code first and then worry about paying later.
Knowing Riddler, that’s the first step towards screwing someone. Luckily the developer said no.
(For context, the entire fee the developer was asking for a license to his software was < $500. For us to develop the functionality independently would require at least ~$5,000.)
